Obituary of Manuel D. Espinola

Manuel D. Espinola, 67, of Peabody, died Sunday afternoon at the NSMC –Salem Hospital in Salem following a short illness of four months. He was the husband of the late Cecelia (Ramos) Espinola who died in 2003. He was born in Gracioza, Azores, Portugal on July 21, 1943, the son of the late Manuel J. and Aida (Sousa) Espinola and came to Peabody 57 years ago. He was a graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School and had been a Color matcher at the Stahl Finish Company in Peabody for thirty years prior to his retirement eight years ago. Manny had been a member of the Club Luis de Camoes and the Portuguese American War Veterans Post 1, both of Peabody. He enjoyed buying his lottery tickets and cherished taking care of his two grandchildren. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Christina Espinola of Peabody, his two grandchildren, Jamie and Chloe Espinola of Peabody and many loving friends. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody / Salem line at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston,MA 02110 in his memory.
