William J. Moore
Peabody—William J. Moore, 90, beloved husband of the late Margaret (Duggan) Moore, died Tuesday September 28, 2010 at the Rosewood Skilled Nursing Center in Peabody following a long illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late William and M. Sophie (Moore) Moore. He grew up in Lynn where he attended schools, and graduated from Lynn Classical High School.
He went into the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Moore worked as a welder at the Boston Navy Yard in Charlestown for several years. He later was employed in the maintenance department at the J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody.
Bill enjoyed tinkering around his home, working on cars, or his yard. He was an active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody, enjoyed music, and gatherings with family and friends.
He is survived by a son and two daughters; Daniel W. Moore of Peabody; Ellen & her husband William McLaughlin of Swampscott and Janet & her husband John Williams of Reading; father of the late Col. James M. Moore; he leaves a daughter-in-law, Amy Moore of VA; six grandchildren, Michael & Kristen McLaughlin of Danvers, Patrick McLaughlin of Charlestown, Christopher & Laura Williams of Reading, Meghan & Sean Moore of VA; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Anna May Martin and Josephine Craven.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday at 8 AM in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Col. James M. Moore Scholarship Fund, Norwich University, 158 Harmon Dr., Northfield, VT 05663 ATTN: Kristin Dodge.
