Obituary of Fidia (DeSantis) Vigna

Peabody, December 25, 2002. Fidia (DeSantis) Vigna, 78, of Peabody, died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was beloved wife of Vincent J. Vigna with whom she shared over 54 years of marriage. Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Regina (Farina) DeSantis. She attended Lynn Public Schools and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1942. Prior to her retirement, she worked for over 25 years at the former J.J. Newbury’ s in Peabody, as a sales clerk. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Joseph’ s Church in Lynn and also was a communicant of St. John’ s Church, Peabody. Mrs. Vigna was a woman who was very family oriented as a wife, mother, grandmother and a great grandmother. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul M. Vigna of Peabody, and Michael J. & Susan Vigna of Billerica; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie Vigna-O’ Neill and her husband, Daniel P. O’ Neill of Peabody; a brother and sister-in-law, F. Peter and Pauline DeSantis of Lynn; a sister, Evelyn Bernard of Beverly; 5 grandchildren, Kelly Vigna of N. Reading, Kimberly Vigna of Medford, Michelle Vigna of Boston, Daniel and Alison O’ Neill, both of Peabody; 3 great grandchildren, Casey Kearin, Brach Vigna and Krista Conway; Cathy Cann and Nancy Coleman and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late, F. John, F. Paul, and F. Joseph DeSantis, F. Mary Ross and Flora Mascott. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM which relatives and friends are invited to attend.
