Obituary of Richard F Crowley, Sr

Richard F. Crowley, St., 71, of Lowell and formerly of Wakefield, died unexpectedly on Monday October 4, 2010 at his home. Richard was born September 24, 1939 in Roslindale, MA. He was the son of Jerome Crowley and Eleanor (Sweeney) Crowley. Richard is survived by former wife Elaine Crowley and their five children, Maryellen (Crowley) Northrup of Wakefield, MA, Kim Anne (Crowley) Scher of North Reading, MA, Elaine Marie (Crowley) Lavi of Phoenix, AZ, Richard F. Crowley of Billerica, MA and Beth Anne Crowley of Salem, MA, sister Joan (Crowley) Hatzirallis of Bristol, CT, cherished brother Michael Crowley and his wife Marcia (Droll) Crowley of Lowell, MA, nine grandchildren, and five loving nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his brother Jerome Crowley of Peabody, MA. He is also survived by his wife Cheryl (Wolcott) Crowley. Richard resided in Wakefield for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he was employed for 39 years. He was a former member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks and the Crystal Coin Club. Richard enjoyed many activities and was an avid history buff. He enjoyed biking and raised money for various charities including the American Lung Association. He enjoyed dining, reading, travelling and spending time with friends and family. Richard’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
