Obituary of Sr. Claire Frances Murray S.N.D.

Sr. Claire Frances Murray, S.N.D., 94, of Ipswich, died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Sister of Notre Dame Residence in Ipswich. Sr. Claire was born in Hyde Park, on September 21, 1916, daughter of the late William and Marie (Bousher) Murray. Sr. Claire entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Waltham on February 17, 1935, and professed her Perpetual Vows on August 30, 1943. Sister received her Bachelor of Arts from Emmanuel College and her Master in Education from Boston College. Her ministries were in Brighton, Chicopee, Tyngsboro, Cambridge, New Haven, CT, Bridgeport, CT and Ipswich. Sr. Claire is survived by her many Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, her sister, Pauline Regan of Medford, and many nieces and nephews. Her siblings Louise Kaempffe, Grace Myers, Philip Murray, William Murray, Jr., and Leo Murray predeceased her. Sr. Claire’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 3 p.m. in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Sisters of Notre Dame, prior to the Mass, on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Sisters of Notre Dame, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938.
