Obituary of Josephine (Poto) Cappy

Josephine (Poto) Cappy, 90, of Peabody, died Thursday at the Jewish Rehab Center in Swampscott following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert “Guido” Cappy with whom she shared over 62 years of marriage. Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late James and Madeline (Charlone) Poto. She was raised and educated in East Boston, and upon marrying her husband Guido, she moved to Peabody where she has lived for the past 51 years. Josephine worked as an assembler at the former Huse Liberty Mica Company in Peabody for many years before retiring many years ago. She was proud of her Italian heritage and enjoyed cooking and baking Italian foods. She also enjoyed playing bingo as well. She is survived by her son, Robert Cappy of Harbor City, CA, her daughter, Janice Marcinkowski of Peabody, her beloved grandchildren, Joseph Marcinkowski and his wife Dawn of Peabody, Gina (Marcinkowski) and her husband Michael Murphy of Dedham, Joshua Cappy of Bonney Lake, WA, and Matthew, Danielle, and Aaron Cappy, all of Harbor City, CA, her six great grandchildren, Ally Lussier, Cerina and Jake Marcinkowski, and Ty, Krista, and Jenelle Murphy, and is also survived by her two brothers-in-law, Salvatore and Eugene Caponigro, both of Revere, and by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John and Luis Poto, Phyllis Martignetti and Dolores Tentindo, and was the mother-in-law of the late Joseph Marcinkowski. Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 12, from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
