Obituary of Dan M. Blanaru

Dan M. Blanaru, 53 years, beloved husband of Nancy M. (Marshall) Reardon-Blanaru of Peabody died unexpectedly Thursday at the Lahey Clinic North Shore in Peabody after being stricken while shoveling snow at his home. Mr. Blanaru was born Feb. 2, 1949 in Bucharest, Romania son of Siranoush Sara (Arsenian) Blanaru of Salem and the late Alex Blanaru. He and his parents arrived in the United States in 1963 and made their home in Salem. He graduated from Salem High School class of 1969. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Sergeant then went on to the United States Navy as a Navy SEAL as a Commander. He ultimately served three tours of duty in Vietnam. After his military service he then attended Ohio State University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He was employed as an engineer at the G. E. Aviation Division in Lynn. During his leisure time he enjoyed cooking, reading, walking and cycling. He attended daily Mass at Sacred Heart in Lynn. In addition to his wife and mother, he was the devoted father of Jennifer A. Blanaru of Salem and Amy L. Blanaru of Boston; step father of Sean P. Reardon of Brighton and Patricia A. Reardon of Salem; former husband of Patricia (Voke) Blanaru of Peabody. He is also survived by an aunt, several cousins and numerous neighborhood friends and his beloved puppy Harry . His funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St., Peabody 978-531-0472 of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church.
