Obituary of Mike Pappas
Mike Pappas “Emanuel Papadopoulos” passed away Monday, October 11, 2010. His final days were spent surrounded by his cherished family and his longtime friends.
He leaves behind the “light of his life” Annie (Katsarakes) Papadopoulos, his devoted wife of many, many years, and his beloved daughters and their husbands, Gail and Kosta Tsamardinos of Danvers, MA and Irene and John Tsouvalas of Georgetown, MA. Mike was thrilled to have been such an integral part in the lives of his adored granddaughters, Paula and Stephanie, and later their husbands, James Ellison and David Hernandez, respectively. In addition to his great grandchildren, John and Alexia, he will remain forever in the hearts of the many nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply.
He was predeceased by his sister, Tessie Stamatopulos and brother Peter Papadopoulos, both previously of Peabody.
The devoted son of Charles and Angela (Papanickolas) Papadopoulos, Mike lived his entire life in the city of Peabody. For more than 50 years, Mike owned and operated Pappas Oil Company, caring about his customers as if they were an extension of his family. Mike often blamed his size on the delicious pastries his customers would serve him when he made his deliveries. In his daily life activities, and in his community – Mike made many good friends, a testament to his warm and giving nature.
He was a lifetime member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox church and committed to raising his family with traditional beliefs. He loved being married, but most importantly, he loved Annie whom he was fortunate to have been married to, for over 60 years.
His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who treasured him as he treasured them. Mike particularly enjoyed Friday night poker games with his buddies. Over the years, he maintained many strong friendships, especially with Steve, Minas and Nick. .His lively spirit and his generous heart will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Rest in Peace, and as he always said to his grandchildren…. “GO GET ‘EM”.
