Obituary of Marion E. "Kid" Roche

Marion E. Roche, 97 years, of Peabody, died Thursday at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home in Peabody. Miss Roche was born Sept. 21, 1905 in Peabody daughter of the late Bartholomew and Mary Bridget (Fenton) Roche. She was raised and educated in Peabody. She was first employed for many years as a bookkeeper at the former U.S.M. Corp. in Beverly then for the former Turner Tanning of Peabody. She then worked for many years as the bookkeeper at Zolotas Hardware of Peabody. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the A.O.H. Div. #11 in Peabody. She had an enduring love of animals especially dogs and cats and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by two grand nephews, Thomas A. Donovan of Santa Monica, CA and Gerald J. Donovan and his wife Lyndie Donovan of Ipswich; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Donovan of Peabody and Margaret Melin of Salem and several cousins. She was also the sister of the late Henry and Joseph Roche and Elizabeth Bessie Donovan and aunt of the late Gerald F. Donovan. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects Monday from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St., Peabody 978-531-0472 of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home.
