George J. Craigen
PEABODY George J. Craigen, 84, formerly of 18 Walnut St., died Tuesday afternoon at the Peabody Glen Skilled Nursing & Rehab Facility in Peabody.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Annie T. (Donlan) Craigen. He was a lifelong resident of the city, and attended Peabody schools.
Mr. Craigen worked for several tanneries in the Greater Peabody area, and most notably was the Boss Tacker at Hawthorne Tanning, and a Tacker at Henry’ s Leather in Peabody before retiring.
He was a veteran of World War II, with service in the United States Army, stationed in the Canal Zone.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Craigen of Peabody and Robert Craigen of Peabody. He was preceded in death by his brothers John, Robert, Joseph and Al, and sisters Evelyn Porcello and Louise Kogut.
His Funeral Ceremony will be held on Friday at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, to which relatives and friends are invited.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 AM.
Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
