Obituary of Thomas M. O'Leary

Thomas M. O’Leary, 82, of Peabody, died Saturday afternoon at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Aletto) O’Leary with whom he shared over 50years of marriage. He has lived in Peabody for the past 48 years. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Michael and Anne (Welby) O’Leary. He was raised and educated in Brighton and graduated from St. Columbkille in Brighton. He then attended Merrimac College and played basketball there and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1954. He was a Personnel Director at Converse in Malden for many years and then he was an Industrial Engineer with Market Forge in Everett before retiring in 1992. In addition to playing basketball, he enjoyed playing golf, watching sporting events and enjoyed gardening. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas M. O’Leary, Jr of Peabody, his daughter, Annmarie and her husband Paul Reynolds of Derry, NH, a sister, Maryann O’Leary of West Roxbury, and is also survived by two grandchildren, Christopher and Alyssa Reynolds of Derry, NH, and by several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William O’Leary and Julia McArdle. His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
