Obituary of Arlinda (Medina) Bettencourt

Arlinda (Medina) Bettencourt,80, of Peabody died Monday at the Rosewood Nursing Center in Peabody after a long illness. She was the wife of Ermolindo Bettencourt. She was born in Luz, Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on January 20, 1925 the daughter of the late Jose and Maria Medina and had resided there before moving to Peabody in 1975. She was employed at the Blair Industries in Wakefield for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1990. She had been a member of the Holy Ghost Society and Our Lady of Fatima Church. Surviving her besides her husband are a son and daughter-in-law, Manuel and Marlene Bettencourt of Peabody, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Maria L. and Manny Bettencourt and Maria Conceicao and Frank Toste all of Peabody, a brother Manuel Medina and a sister, Mara Picanco both of Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, 5 grandchildren, Debbie Barreira and her husband Mario, Melanie and Carey Bettencourt, Alyssa and Ashley Toste all of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Eugenia, Lourdes and Christian Medina. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 9:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the North Shore 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma 01923 in her memory.
