Obituary of Myron Yaskell

Myron Yaskell, 90, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at his home after a short illness. He was the devoted husband of 54 years to Doria (Shaluk) Yaskell. He was born in Somerset, MA on April 22, 1920, the son of the late Vladimir “ Walter” and Theodozia (Wascik) Yaskilka and at the age of 13 moved to Peabody. He was a graduate of Peabody High School in the class of 1938. He entered the US Army during WW II serving in the Southern Philippines and New Guinea and was a recipient of a bronze service star. He had been a radio operator during the invasion of Japan. Following his discharge in 1946, Myron graduated from Bentley Accounting School in Waltham and became an accountant at the Allenhurst restaurant in Danvers. He later worked at the former Jack Hackett’s Lakeside restaurant before joining the firm of Donovan and Weyland as an accountant in Lynn. He later joined the Dan Clasby & Company Accounting firm in Beverly for over 25 years prior to his retirement twenty years ago. He had been an avid golfer and a member of the North Shore Golf League for many years. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, and polka dancing. He loved to cook and helped prepare many meals for the monthly dinners at the Italian American Citizens Club of Peabody where he was a member. Surviving him besides his wife are two daughters, Darice Yaskell of Salem, MA and Tina Yaskell-Cahee and her husband Robert Cahee of Windham, NH, a sister, Helen Burke of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John and Jacob Yaskell. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 - 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. Theophan Whitfield of St. Nicholas Russian Othrhodox Church, Salem officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., suite 102B Danvers, MA 01923 or to the charity of your choice.
