Obituary of M. Alice (O'Connor) Woods

M. Alice (O’Connor) Woods PEABODY—M. Alice (O’Connor) Woods, 90, beloved wife of the late Arthur Woods, died unexpectedly on Friday morning at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she grew up there. She resided in Danvers for the past 56 years where she raised her children, loved her grandchildren, and was loved by many. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary A. (Roche) O’Connor. She graduated from Peabody High School. Mrs. Woods worked at the United Shoe Machinery Plant in Beverly as a Timekeeper during World War II. Mary enjoyed camping at Sebago Lake in Maine, bowling, square dancing, and entertaining family and friends at her home. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, John “Jack” & Maureen Woods of Peabody and William “Bill” & Sharon Woods of Danvers; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith & Wayne Cofrin of Goffstown, NH; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph & his wife Emelia O’Connor of Lynn; one sister, Irene & her husband Edward O’Brien of South Dennis, MA, and many nieces and nephews complete “The Clan.” She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a sister Helen Hogan. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday at 10 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Mary’s of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701
