Obituary of Catherine E. (Donahoe) Gallant

Catherine E. Kay (Donahoe) Gallant, 82, of Peabody died Thursday at her home after a short illness. She was the wife of J. Edward Gallant with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She was born in Lynn on October 12, 1920, the daughter of the late John and Rose (Bresnahan) Donahoe and had resided in Albuquerque, NM and later in Dallas, Texas before moving back to Peabody , Ma.. In her senior year. She had been a hairdressor for more that 50 years having worked At My Lady’ s Beauty Salon in Peabody and later at Miss Nancy Beauty Salon in Danvers for over Twenty Years. She also worked at many funeral homes on the North Shore styling hair including the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home and the Stockwell - Richardson Funeral Homes of Peabody, the Campbell Funeral Home of Beverly and the Mackey Funeral Home of Danvers. She was a long time member of the West Beach Corp. of Beverly Farms and enjoyed many summers there with her family. She was an active member of St. John’ s Church, Peabody where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of St. John’ s Ladies Sodality. Surviving her besides her husband are 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph E. Jay Gallant of Tavenier, Fl., and Gerald and Susan Gallant of Gloucester, Ma., two daughters And a son-in-law, Rosemary Crocker of Danvers and Marsha and Thomas Charlton of Beverly, 6 grandchildren, Amy and her husband Bob Le Page of Peabody, Brian Crocker Of Reading; Ryan, Ashley and Patrick Charlton all of Beverly and Alexandra Gallant of Gloucester, Ma., a great grandson, Nathan Le Page of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James Donahoe. Her Funeral will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Mem. Park in Peabody. Visiting hours on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
