Robert A. Pinch
DANVERS—Robert A. Pinch, 74, beloved husband of Norvetta “Noy” (Tribby) Pinch of Danvers, died peacefully Sunday evening at the Radius Healthcare Facility in Danvers after an extended illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Reginald and Audrey (Roberts) Pinch. He grew up there and graduated from Lynn English High School, where he excelled on the baseball and football team. After attending the Hebron School, he studied at Brown University where he also played baseball and football. He completed graduate studies at Wentworth Institute in Boston for Civil Engineering.
Mr. Pinch worked as a Civil Engineer early in his career, and later was a skating rink manager. He was at the North Shore Sports Center in Lynn, then the Twin Rinks in Danvers, and finally with the Beverly Ice Palace.
Bob was involved in the Greater Danvers community with youth sports and other civic organizations. He coached with his son’s hockey teams, was involved with Danvers Youth Hockey for many years, and had served as President of the North Shore Skating Club where his wife, Noy, taught skating lessons. He greeted people with a welcoming, booming voice that showed how he connected well with others. He often displayed his keen wit, and will be missed by those who knew him well.
