Obituary of Priscilla Ann (Burt) Barrett

Priscilla Ann (Burt) Barrett was born in Chelsea on July 18, 1940. She grew up in Lynn and spent most of her adult life living in Peabody. She is survived by her husband Paul and 5 sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Jane, Kevin and Beth, Brian and Amy, Jeffrey and Lisa, and Matthew and Erica. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, Patrick, Sean, Kevin, Christian, Lauren, Courtney, Alexandra, Matthew, Sara, Brian, Jessica, Steven, Lindsey, Jacob, Ryan, Daniel, and Madison. Priscilla was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Cook) Burt. She also leaves her brother Charles and her cousins Frank and Joe Cook as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Priscilla is a 1958 graduate of Lynn Classical and a 1960 graduate of the Modern School of Fashion and Design. She worked for many years for Demoules Markets and Star and Shaw Markets. She served a brief stint as Peabody’s Secretary to the Mayor, and was a Notary Public as well. She was also an active member of the community, served as treasurer of the Brown School PTO and program coordinator for 10 years. She was a member of the Peabody Football Boosters Club, an avid gardener where she designed and maintained a flower garden at the West Peabody Library since 2005 and was a volunteer worker to the annual Harvest Fair. An accomplished cook, she was the recipient of numerous awards from the Topsfield Fair including first prize for Fleischmann’s Yeast in 2008 and first prize for best bread in the Northeast Quadrant of the Country in 2008 as well. She was a consummate homemaker and was recently invited to participate in a pie making demonstration sponsored by the Pillsbury Company. Her children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friend are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
