Obituary of Robert S. Cleary

Robert S. Cleary, 79, of Brooksby Village, Peabody and formerly of Lynnfield, died early Saturday morning, Jan. 1, 2011 at the Mass General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Cynthia H. (Colella) Cleary. He was born in Malden, MA on October 1, 1931, the son of the late Hugh and Ellen (Crowley) Cleary and was raised and educated there. He was a graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and while at Northeastern played on the Track Team. Bob had worked in the Construction field as a civil engineer for over 25 years before retiring from the Key-Lock Construction Co, of Boston 17 years ago. He and his wife were long time members of the Thomson Country Club in North Reading and served on many committees while a member there. He also loved sports having played football in high school and loved watching the Patriots on television. During the Korean War, Robert was a member of the Massachusetts National Guard. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert S. and Robin Cleary of Stoneham, three daughters, Kim M. Cleary of Malden, Karen Ann Cleary and her longtime companion, Joseph Piazza of Revere and Lisa A. Perrino and her husband Robert Jr. of Sandwich, MA, his grandchildren, Kelly Perrino and her fiancé, Michael Silba of Sandwich and Erin and Megan Cleary of Stoneham, his sisters, Eleanor Reid and Jean O’Connor and sisters-in-law, Mary and Greta Cleary and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Assumption Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Mem Park, Peabody.
