Obituary of Leonidas A Philipedes

Leonidas A. Philipedes, 81, of Salem and formerly of Peabody, died Saturday afternoon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth (Bentas) Philipedes with whom he shared over 58 years of marriage. Born in Greece, he was the son of the late Anthony and Irene (Konstantakis) Philipedes. He was raised and educated in Greece and has spent the last 50 plus years living in Salem. He worked as a self employed painter for over 40 years. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and John Stephanides of Peabody and Bessie and Abdol Marashi of Salem, a sister, Maria Anagnostopoulos of Greece, his beloved grandchildren, Theodore & Leonidas Stephanides, and Zahra and Eman Marashi. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 PM Noon at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friend are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 until 11:30 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Vasilios Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960
