Obituary of Maurice T. Hallinan

Maurice T. Hallinan, 91 years, of Peabody husband of the late Amelia A. (Petkus) Hallinan died Sunday at the Montserrat Rehab and Nursing Home in Beverly. He was born March 4, 1911 in Peabody son of the late Jeremiah and Nora (Cronin) Hallinan and was a lifelong resident of Peabody. He graduated from Peabody High School class of 1929 and attended the Salem Commercial Business School for 2 years. Mr. Hallinan worked for the City of Peabody for 40 years, first with the Retirement Board then as an inspector for the Public Works Dept. He retired in 1981. He was the Ward 2 Councilor for many years and was the Chairman of the City of Peabody Democratic Committee. He was a communicant and usher at St. Ann Church, Peabody. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Leo Council 508 and the A.O.H. Div. 11 both in Peabody. During his leisure time he coached semi-pro baseball. He is survived by three sons and their wives, M. Thomas Hallinan, Jr. and Janice Hallinan, Michael J. and Patricia Hallinan all of Peabody and Gerald H. and Bonnie Hallinan of Danvers; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Maureen J. and Albert Newhall, Eileen N. and Louis Ciman, Kathleen M. and Thomas Fabrizio, Noreen E. and Thomas Sucharewicz all of Peabody, Patricia S. and Peter Armer of Sutton and Christine A. Hallinan; 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a niece Linda Petkus of Peabody. He was the father of the late David Hallinan and brother of the late Henry Hallinan. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St., Peabody 978-531-0472 of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
