Obituary of Mildred Emily (Sweeney) Langley

Mildred E. (Sweeney) Langley, 78, of Peabody, passed away on January 3, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Ralph J. Langley, Sr. for 56 years. Mildred was born in Lynn, MA. She was raised by her aunts and later resided in South Peabody. She attended Peabody schools during her youth and later pursued courses at local community and state colleges. She had been a nurturer to her loving family, raising three sons and helping care for her grandchildren. Family well being was a priority for her and she was a role model for self sacrifice. She had been a member of the United Methodist Church. She had many abilities and interests. These included being a seamstress, a homemaker and an avid reader. She was a longstanding member of book clubs in the City of Peabody library system. Mildred also enjoyed travel, especially the trips she and her late husband took to Disney World and Hawaii. Mildred will be dearly missed by friends and family. She is survived by her children, Richard Langley and his wife Noel of Whitehaven, PA; Robert Langley and his wife Beth of Peabody; and Ralph Langley Jr. of Saco, ME; her grandchildren Andrew and James Langley of Peabody, a sister-in-law Pauline Langley of Peabody; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn Street, Peabody facility. Friends and family are respectfully welcomed. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
