Obituary of Barbara Ann (Rackliff) Gauthier

Barbara Ann (Rackliff) Gauthier, 79, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at the Radius Health Care Center in Danvers following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of 61 years of marriage to Robert Lucien Gauthier. She was born in Danvers, MA on September 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Walter I. and Laura A (Ouimette) Rackliff and was raised there before moving to Peabody. She and her husband had wintered for many years Cocoa, Florida following their retirement. Barbara had worked for the Peabody School system in the cafeteria department for over twenty years prior to her retirement 14 years ago. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and twice took cross-country road trips around America. She had been a collector of coins and stamps and loved taking care of her grandchildren. Surviving her besides her husband are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert J. and Aura Gauthier of Marlborough and Edward A. and Linda Gauthier of Saugus, a daughter, Judith Ann Armstrong of Titusville, FL, a surviving sister Beverly O’Giba of Danvers, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 in her memory.
