Obituary of Douglas W. Ferguson
Douglas W. Ferguson, 59 years, died Sunday afternoon August 7, 2005. at his home in Peabody surrounded by his family.
Mr. Ferguson was born on June 22, 1946 in Lynn the son of Raymond S. Ferguson, his wife Carole A. (Hubbard) Beasley Ferguson both of Beverly and was the son of the late Elsie B. (Platt) Ferguson. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal with the 9th Marine Engineer Battalion with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Doug was the owner of Essex Seamless Gutter, Co. of Peabody that he started in 1985. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Fidelity Post 1011, Marine Corps League and a American Legion Post 153, D.A.V. Chapter 100 and the Peabody Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E. 1409 all in Peabody.
Doug loved to golf and travel. He wintered in Okeechobee, FL and was known for his boisterous personality and candid moments.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen (Harkins) Ferguson of 26 years; 3 sons and their wives, Douglas D. and Karyn Ferguson, Gary E. and Amy Ferguson and Andrew R. and Keri Ferguson all of Peabody; a sister and her husband, Jannine and Don Bowden of Woburn; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Scott and Karen Ferguson of Manchester, ME and Ralph Ferguson of Peabody; 3 grandchildren, David Douglas, Michael Wade and Kali Elizabeth Ferguson all of Peabody; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pre deceased by a brother Richard Ferguson.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Second Congregational Church, 12 Maple St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 - 8 p.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the N.S. Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody MA 01960 or the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
