William F. Novick, Sr.
PEABODY—William F. Novick, Sr., 73, beloved husband of the late Linda (Pyburn) Novick, died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Borazia) Novick. He was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1957 and a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Novick served in the National Guard between the wars in Korea and Vietnam.
He was a Master Plumber and Certified Welder who was employed mostly with Union Local 138 in Salem for 30 years.
Bill was very involved with the Benevolent Order of the Elks, Lodge 1409 of Peabody. He was honored as Elk of the Year in 2007. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially for the Patriots and Red Sox. He enjoyed being outdoors, and trips to camp in Maine and New Hampshire, waterskiing, snowmobiling, and being with nature in his yard at the outdoor hearth. He also was a member of the Polish Club in Danvers and AOH in Peabody.
He is survived by: his three sons and daughters-in-law, William F. & Kathie Novick, Jr. of Merrimac, MA, Michael & Toni Novick of Peabody, and Jay & Christine Novick of Hudson, NH; a daughter & her fiance, Lauren McIntire & Jim Rynkowski of Essex; five grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Novick of Danvers and a sister, Olga Florence of Lynn, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a brother Walter Novick.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday at 8 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody. Cremation will follow the Mass. As Bill was an animal lover, Expressions of Sympathy may be made to Strays in Need, P.O. Box 223, Danvers, MA 01923.
