Obituary of Helen F. (Koegler) Haley

Helen F. (Koegler) Haley, 86, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Francis Haley. She has lived in Peabody for the past 40 years. Born in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Madeline (Hughes) Koegler. She was raised and educated in Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Cresson High School. After high school, she worked at an ammunition plant during WWII. While living in Massachusetts, she worked as a manager at the former Eastern Airlines Terminal, then as a Real Estates Broker in Peabody and finally before retiring she worked as a clerk for The St. Paul Insurance Company in Boston for ten years. Helen enjoyed crocheting, doing jigsaw and crosswords puzzles, and gardening and enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping. What she cherished most was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her son Richard and his wife Maureen of Byfield, her daughter, Margaret Parsons of Peabody, her three loving grandchildren, Michael and his wife Christine Parsons, Meredith and Katherine Haley, and by her two great grandchildren, Ian and Laurel Parsons. Helen was the oldest of 15 brothers and sisters and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held on Monday January 24, 2011 at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
