Obituary of John P. White

John P. White, 81, of Aspen Road, Swampscott, died late Friday evening at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home, Salem, following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Mary (McDonald) White, with whom he shared over 46 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Patrick & Bridget (Walsh) White. He attended Peabody Public Schools and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1938. He later moved to Swampscott and has lived there for the past 39 years. He had worked for over 35 years at the former AC Lawrence Co., in Peabody and later had worked for the Town of Swampscott School Department as a custodian for over 15 years before retiring 11 years ago. For the past 26 years he has been the Head Usher at St. John’ s the Evangelist Church, Swampscott. He also was an Honorary Life member for 56 years and past Grand Knight in 1955 for the Peabody Knights of Columbus, Leo Counsel # 508. Besides his loving wife of 46 years, he is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, John & Kathryn White of Weymouth, and Philip White of Salem; 2 brothers, Thomas M. White of Peabody and Martin F. White of Valrico, Fla., 2 grandchildren, Sean and Bridget White of Weymouth, and several nieces and nephews, including a Godchild, Sheila D’ Ambrosio of Peabody. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. Peabody Facility (978) 531-0472, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Swampscott @ 11:00 AM, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Burial in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott.
