Obituary of Santo P. Mineo

Santo P. Mineo PEABODY—Santo P. Mineo, 80, beloved husband of Gloria (Mento) Mineo of Peabody, died Sunday January 23, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a courageous battle with cancer. A long time resident of Salem, he was born in Trapani, Sicily, Italy. He came to the United States as a young child, and grew up in Gloucester, where he graduated from Gloucester High School. For the past 18 years , he enjoyed his retirement years at The Villages, Florida. Santo was a Gloucester Fisherman before he worked many years at H.P. Hood & Sons. He retired from the City of Salem Water Department in 1993. Santo was very proud of his very close, large family. He was the son of the late Francesco and Giulia (Figuccio) Mineo. He is survived by: his wife, Gloria (Mento) Mineo of Peabody; six children, Julie Venedam of Merrimack, NH, Frank Mineo of Osprey, FL, Susan Mineo of Peabody, David Mineo of Salem, Diane Mineo of Haverhill, and Anthony Mineo of Cumming, GA; nine grandchildren, Sean Venedam of Greenville, NH, Jason Mineo-Goggin of North Reading, Caron Mineo of Brooklyn Heights, NY, Paul Venedam of Merrimack, NH, Julianne Mineo of Brighton, Kalyn Mineo of Lynn, and Nicholas, Anthony, and Matthew Mineo of Cumming, GA; two great-grandchildren, Xander and Malaki Venedam; two sisters, Diana Aiello of Gloucester and Irene Denaro of Washingtonville, NY; a brother, Nick Mineo of Carlisle, PA, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday at 10 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody.
