Obituary of Barbara M. (Herlihy) Connolly

Barbara M. (Herlihy) Connolly, 80 years, of Peabody died Monday afternoon at Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Connolly was born on January 6, 1925 in Salem daughter of the late William V. and Margaret M. (Ellis) Herlihy. She was raised and graduated from Salem High School class of 1942. She resided in Salem and Peabody. Mrs. Connolly was employed as an accounting clerk at GTE Sylvania in Salem and Danvers retiring in 1990. She was also employed at Stop & Shop in Vinnin Square Salem. She was very involved with her grandchildren and enjoyed helping her family and many friends. She was very active at the Peabody House, enjoyed attending live concerts, listening to music, line dancing and was a member of the AARP. She traveled in Europe and stayed in Elder Hostels. In the U.S. she went on several senior travel trips. She is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, Kathleen and John O’ Donnell of Peabody and Nancy and Gary Boal of Santa Fe, NM; 2 sons and their wives, Raymond and Ann Connolly of Peabody and Kevin and Laura Connolly of Wilmington; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, William and Claire Herlihy of Beverly and Arthur Herlihy of Salem; a sister Ruth Tarascio of Salem; 4 grandchildren, Caitlin H. and Liam M. O’ Donnell of Peabody and Lisa and Michelle Connolly of Wilmington; many nieces, nephews and friends. Pre deceased by her siblings James Herlihy and Marie Jeffrey. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location, Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 - 8 p.m. Cremation will follow services.
