Obituary of Theodore "Ted" S. Elia

Theodore S. Elia PEABODY—Theodore S. Elia, 56, beloved husband of Susan (Turinsan) Elia of Peabody, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday January 31, 2011. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Soter and Julia (Spero) Elia. He was a lifelong resident of the city. He graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1971, and then earned a bachelor of science degree in history and education from Salem State College. Mr. Elia was employed as an Industrial Security Guard with the Analogic Corporation in Peabody for 28 years of faithful service. Ted had a passion for collecting coins and stamps. He loved to discover rare finds, and was a professional who went to auctions as a dealer. He was a member of the Numismatic Association of Massachusetts. He also enjoyed giving his time as a volunteer with the American Red Cross of Peabody as a trainer in CPR and First Aid. Ted will be remembered for his quiet presence, as a gentle soul who was a dedicated and loving husband and enjoyed his family. He is survived by: his wife Susan Maulansit (Turinsan) Elia of Peabody, with whom he shared over 17 years of marriage; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alecks Elia of NY and Ernest Elia of Haverhill; three sisters-in-law, Amelia, Emilie, and Melissa; his father and mother-in-law, Lope T. & Carolina Turinsan; two brothers-in-law, Ray and Nelson; two nieces Kristine and Nicole, and several cousins and friends. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. to 1 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited for the Funeral Ceremony immediately following at 1 PM in the funeral home. Cremation will be after the funeral, and urn burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery at a future date
