Obituary of Cecile H. Berube

Cecile H. Berube SALEM—Cecile H. Berube, 99, died Wednesday January 5, 2011 at the Masconomet Health Care Center in Topsfield following a brief illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Elzear and Emma (Martel) Berube. She grew up in Salem, and attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and was promoted directly to Burdette College, where she graduated. She was a resident of Salem and Peabody. In retirement she enjoyed 33 years in Florida prior to returning to her roots in 2006. Miss Berube was a bookkeeper, and was employed with the William D. Martin Insurance & Real Estate Company. She also worked for many years with Auger Insurance Agency in Salem. Cecile enjoyed travel. A trip to North Conway, NH was good for either skiing or any time during the year. She enjoyed trips to Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean Islands. She will be remembered for her great sense of style, and as an aunt for her several nieces and nephews. She is survived by: a niece Janet & her husband John Riley of Peabody; two nieces, Anita (Berube) Fivek of GA and Elaine (Berube) Moran & her husband James of FL, and several great-nieces and great-nephews, and several great-great nieces & great-great nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by her sisters Eva Kramer and Flora Gandolfo, her brother Raymond Berube, and a nephew Kenneth Gayron. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Mass in her honor on Saturday February 5, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Urn burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookhaven Hospice, Merrimack Valley Regional Office, 94 Peters St., North Andover, MA 01845 in Cecile’s memory.
