Claritza A. Castillo
LYNN—Claritza A. Castillo, 39, died peacefully on Friday afternoon at the Mass General Hospital in Boston, after a courageous battle agains colon cancer.
Born in Rio Pedras, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Pedro and Edia A. (Quijada) Castillo of Peabody. She grew up on the North Shore, and graduated from Salem High School. She attended Salem State College, and studied a course in Cosmetology.
Ms. Castillo worked as an office administrator with the J.R. Reyes Transportation Company of Seabrook, NH.
Claritza was know as a very dedicated woman. A person who strived for the best, no matter what. She was very self-sufficient, independent, and an entrepreneur. People see these traits along with her balance in life as she was an excellent single mother, and started her business which she built from the ground up. She never let any task stand in her way to reach her ultimate goals. Last but not least, she was a fighter. Ms. Castillo was not only strong hearted but just as physically strong and fought hard every step of the way. She enjoyed mostly being with the closest of her family, catching a Sunday night at home, playing bingo with her friends, or playing cards were her favorite.
She is survived by: her parents of Peabody; her daughter, Tiffany Castillo of Lynn; two brothers, Victor Hugo Castillo of NJ and Pedro E. Castillo of Lynn; two sisters, Edie-Maritza Castillo and Reina Castillo, both of Peabody; a special companion, Jose Rafael Reyes of Lynn, and several extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 – 9 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, MA. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
