Obituary of Charles R Tyner, Jr.

Charles R. Tyner, Jr., 86, of Peabody, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the EN Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Somers) Tyner who died this past November. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Margaret Tyner, Sr. He was raised and educated in the Boston area and has lived in Peabody for the past 52 years. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the United States Navy and was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic – Pacific Medal as well. After the war, he worked as an iron worker for the Sturtevant Mills in Dorchester for 40 years. When he retired, he worked a few more years as a crossing guard for the city of Peabody. Charles is survived by four children, ten grandchildren, and a great grandchild, and was predeceased by a sister. A private funeral service was held on Monday at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
