Obituary of George A. Kalivas
Beverly, January 9, 2003. George A. Kalivas, 82, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at the Blueberry Hill Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Artemice (Xenos) Kalivas.
Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Aristos and Eugenia (Miesa) Kalivas. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools and graduated from Peabody High School, class of 1937.
He was a veteran who served with the United States Army during WWII. Prior to his retirement, he worked for over 22 years as a car salesman for the Ford Motor Company, first at Cooper Ford and the Toby Ford, and finally before retiring, at Thomas Ford in Beverly.
He was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody and he enjoyed playing his guitar and listening too classical guitar music.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Aristos and Victoria Kalivas of Peabody; a daughter, Stella Kalivas of Peabody; 3 grandchildren, Anastasia, Artemis, and Athena Kalivas, all of Peabody. He was the father of the late Anastasia Kalivas and brother of the late Spero and Christ Kalivas and Caliope Sarbanas.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by Services at Noon at St. Vasilios Church, Peabody, which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Friday from 6-8 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
