Dear Nonno,

I love you more than you know and will miss you the rest of my life, and hope to meet you again some day. Reading through the other memorial messages confirms my belief that you were a unique and inspiring person, and had I attended one of your classes perhaps I would have also gone into engineering!

Love you,
Emile

Dear Laurelle and Famiy,
Ralph will always hold a special place in our memory. He was a valued colleague to Ernie at Merrimack College, a loyal friend and
a kind, gentle and generous spirit. We remember his welcoming hellos and his cheerful laughter. He was always the eager organizer
when it came to "getting the gang" of math and engineering profs together for lunch. He enriched minds and brightened days.
Blessings to you all,
Ginny and Ernie Montella

Laurelle

I still have some of Ralph's Lab materials and sample problems in Fluid Mechanics. They are the best and students continue to learn through some of Ralph's methods. A great teacher and friend, he remains an important part of my teaching career and I am forever grateful for his help and guidance.

Dave Westerling

Hi Laurelle (and family):

I was so sadened to hear about Ralph. He was the best, so much fun. When we came to visit you in Boston we had such a great time and my kids really loved their visit with him. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. He is with my mom and dad now and at peace. My parents named me after you Laurelle not only because they loved the name but also because they loved you and Ralph so much, as I do. If you need anything, please let us know. God bless you always and take care of yourself. Ralph will always have a special place in my heart. I love cousin Laurelle.

Laurelle and family,

I share your sadness about Ralph's passing. KNow that you, Ralph, and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Ralph was a gentle, loving man who cared deeply about his students. He went to great lengths to find ways to teach them in class, in lab, and in individual tutoring sessions. At faculty meetings he often challenged us to remember that "We are here for the students." I recall walks around campus with Ralph when he would return with a handful of dandelions and mushrooms for his lunch. He was a great conversationalist, a person of conviction and high ideals, truly a good man. I will miss him.

Dear Laurelle,

I have nothing but warm and affectionate memories of you and Ralph over the years. It was always such a special joy to see you at a Merrimack function. Your nephew Dave has kept me posted on Ralph's health, especially recently. Both of you and your family have had and will continue to have a special place in my prayers. I know that Ralph will always watch over the college he loved and served with such devotion and distinction. May his soul dwell in the eternal joys of heaven that he so richly deserves.

Dear Laurelle and Family,

We will always treasure the visit you and Ralph paid to us when we lived in Santa Cruz, and you were on your way to Vancouver, British Columbia. We also remember fondly our visit to your home; we still have and play the tape of arias that Ralph gave us. Ralph was a sweetheart, and we remember the good meals you cooked for us and our conversation about all things Italian. Tom's mother, Antonette, always spoke fondly of you and Ralph. Give our love to Anne, Italo, Aldo, Paul, Marc and John. We will always think of you and Ralph together.

With love,
Tom and Carmen

My deep sympathy to family of one of my favorite professors. Through the years I remember some of his quotes which I referred to many times. Although I moved to Calfornia in 1961 I fondly remember my years at Merrimack and my fellow classmates and teachers. Ralph had a profound affect on my career and conduct as a Civil Engineer. God Bless.vzbjen

Dear Laurelle and your entire family,

I send my love and prayers during this difficult time -- from myself and on behalf of my entire family. As I hope you know, Ralph was so loved by my father and all of us. He was the dearest of friends, companions, and colleagues to my father especially as young men, teachers, and leaders shaping the early Merrimack College community. One of my most favorite of of my father's black and white photos is that of Ralph on one of their camping trips -- Maine, I think. I also have precious memories of looking out the window during my terribly dull stats class to be treated by the vision of Ralph holding a small plastic bag, stooping over to collect lovely dandelion greens from the college lawn. We used to call them hibbyjibby weeds but he knew better and, of course, now we find them in all the finest restaurant salads! Ralph also would corner me often to try to convince me to go into engineering or a "real" science -- none of this "soft" science sociology stuff! :) Ralph contributed so much to our lives and our world and we are all better for having known him -- and he lives on in these and many, many other memories.

Although I am unable to join you in honoring him during visiting hours and the mass because I will be out of town all week due to work, please know that I am with you in thoughts, prayers, and so very much love.

Peace to you and yours.

Emily (Emmy Sue)
