Obituary of Rita A. (Moquin) Gill

Rita A. “Posie” (Moquin) Gill, 85, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 12, 2011 at Sutton Hill Nursing Home. A lifelong Peabody and “Ward Four” resident, Rita was married for 54 years to the late Robert J. Gill. Rita was born in Peabody on April 16, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Edmond and Eva (Normand) Moquin. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School, class of 1942. Rita was employed for many years as a secretary at General Electric and was also instrumental in implementing the home health care program at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody. An avid tennis player, Rita and her husband Bob played all over the North Shore and were two of the earliest members of the Northeast Indoor Tennis Club in Middleton. Rita’s life revolved around her family and was most proud of her two grandchildren, Ryan and Krysten. She is survived by her three loving sons, Michael J. Gill and his wife Debbie of Concord, NH, Peabody Firefighter Robert A. Gill and Kevin G. Gill and his wife Kathleen with whom Rita resided with the last six years, and their two children, Ryan and Krysten, all of Peabody, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her siblings, Normand Moquin, Lucille Croughwell and Dr. L Doris Moquin. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
