Warren P. Brown
PEABODY—Warren P. Brown, 91, beloved husband of Dorothy (Jackson) Brown, died Monday evening February 28, 2011 at the North Shore Medical Center--Salem Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born in Swampscott, he was the son of the late Wallis and Mabel (Bartlett) Brown. He grew up on the North Shore in Rockport, and on the South Shore in the Quincy area. He later attended Michigan College of Mining and Tech. His family heritage includes ancestors such as Josiah Bartlett, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and Jack Chesbro, a Hall of Fame Major League pitcher.
He served a patriotic duty with service in the United States Army during World War II.
Mr. Brown worked as a Draftsman at the General Electric Riverworks Plant in Lynn for 41 years. He enjoyed an early retirement for the last 30 years.
Warren enjoyed woodworking, crafting several pieces of furniture for his home. He also was an avid sports fan, especially the Red Sox and Patriots, enjoyed bowling, and tending to his home environment. He Was an avid traveler during his retirement, visiting several states and countries with his wife. He will be remembered for his quiet simplicity, family values and dedication to family and friends. Most of all, “Dad” or “Brownie” enjoyed his family, spending countless hours with them at home and poolside.
He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy (Jackson) Brown of Peabody, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey & Virginia Brown of Peabody; a daughter, Susan Brown of Portsmouth, NH; two cherished granddaughters, Victoria and Julia Brown of Peabody, and several nieces, nephews, and brothers & sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his siblings John Brown, Janet Bishop, and Elizabeth Myers.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a visitation on
Saturday March 5, 2011, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, with a Funeral Service at 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
