Obituary of Olive E. (LeGrand) Bocknick

Olive E. (LeGrand) Bocknick PEABODY—Olive E. (LeGrand) Bocknick, 99, beloved wife of the late Theodore J. Bocknick, Sr., died peacefully at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital on Tuesday March 1, 2011. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Almeda (Ryer) LeGrand. She grew up in Danvers where she was educated in the school system. Mrs. Bocknick was employed with Ideal Baby Shoe for over 20 years. Olive was an avid reader, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles which kept her mind active and alert. She was also an avid golf fan. She kept herself active by visiting the Torigian Community Life Center and went on many of the trips offered. She also enjoyed trips to visit her daughter in California, and to Disneyworld in Orlando, FL. She will be remembered for her devotion to family and independent spirit. She is survived by: a daughter, Barbara Welshans of Nipomo, CA; a daughter-in-law, Susan Bocknick of Peabody; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Bocknick and Diane Bocknick both of Peabody; a great-grandson, Dalton Bocknick of Peabody; a sister, Frances LeGrand of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by a son “Teddy” Bocknick and sister Frederica Ronan. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a visitation on Monday March 7, 2011 from 10 to 10:30 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her Funeral Ceremony will follow at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
