Obituary of Marita (Gomes) Carino

PEABODY—Marita (Gomes) Carino, 90, beloved wife of Joseph Carino of Peabody, went home to be with the Lord on Friday March 4, 2011, following a brief illness. Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Andrade) Gomes. She grew up in East Boston, and lived there most of her life. She lived in Peabody for the last eight years. Mrs. Carino worked as a Seamstress with G.T. , Inc. for many years until her retirement 28 years ago. Marita loved cooking and baking. She believed in helping people and was very devoted in her faith and to her church. She found joy from evangelizing and reaching out to others, especially to those with little resources. She was a member of the Feast of the Holy Ghost Society in East Boston. She will be remembered for her embracing others to support them, and welcoming others to her family—as well as her devotion to family. She is survived by: her husband Joseph Carino of Peabody, with whom she enjoyed 62 years of marriage; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Grande & her husband Raymond and Elizabeth Distacio & her husband Anthony, all of Peabody, and Valerie Palazzolo & her husband Stephen of North Reading, cherished grandmother of Krisinda Moretti & her husband Jeffrey of Saugus, Stephen & Rachel Palazollo both of No. Reading, Lisa Defelice of Peabody, Kim Richard of Boston and four great-grandchildren, Judah, Michael, Isabella, and Vittoria; loving sister of Albert Gomes of Stoneham and Alfred Gomes & his wife Helen of Peabody, she leaves many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers John, Anthony, and Joseph and sister Angelina Barletta. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, MA. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Service on Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 10 AM in the Calvary Church North Shore, 352 Andover Street (Rte 114) Danvers, MA. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
