Obituary of Richard C. Grigway

Richard C. Grigway PEABODY—Richard C. Grigway, 78, beloved husband of Ann (Wilkins) (Pantapas) Grigway of Peabody, passed away on Saturday March 5, 2011 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Born in East Clarendon, VT, he was the son of the late Francis and Doris (Bratu) Grigway. He lived in Lynn during his youth where he attended school. Mr. Grigway worked as a plumber for many years with Gordon Realty of Peabody. He married his wife of 26 years, and moved back to the Salem and North Shore area and retired in 2002. Living in Peabody, Richard worked part-time at the Torigian Community Life Center. Richard spent many enjoyable hours deep sea fishing, tending his rose and vegetable gardens, as well as rooting for his favorite team, the Patriots. He is survived by: his wife, Ann Pantapas Grigway of Peabody, with whom he enjoyed the last 26 years of marriage; three sons, David and Joseph Woods, and Richard Grigway, Jr.; and wife Ann’s children, Cheryl & Charles Kozlowski of Haverhill, Susan & Craig Lamkin, John Pantapas & Anne Cobbett, and Peter & Tracy Pantapas all of Peabody; many loving grandchildren who affectionately called him Bumpa; two sisters, Loretta Pohle of Lynn and Dorothy Hudson of NH, several nieces and nephews, and he also leaves behind his loving cat Brusky. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to his Funeral Service on Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, MA. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
