Obituary of Constantinos Velentzas

Constantinos Velentzas, 74, of So. Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at his home after a long illness. He was born in Megalopoli, Greece on January 28, 1931, the son of the late Foti and Bessie (Nicolocopolis) Velentzas and had resided in New York and later in Lynn, Ma before moving to Peabody 18 years ago. He had been a sous chef for over thirty years, first at the Town Line Restaurant in Lynnfield, later at Augustine’ s in Saugus and then at the Cloud Nine restaurant at the Logan Airport prior to his retirement 15 years ago. He enjoyed gardening and traveling. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Theologou) Velentzas and later Elaine (Manos) Velentzas. Surviving him besides his wife are three daughters, Carolyn Velentzas of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Bessie Velentzas of Boston, Ma and Katina Velentzas of Peabody, his siblings , Spyros and Panayiota Velentzas and Demetrios Velentzas all of New York City, NY, Canella and Chris Damas of Danvers and Nicoletta O’ Reilly of Randolph, his in-laws, Peter Theologou and Christine Phillipopoulos both of Braintree, Sarantos Manos of Randolph and James Manos of Quincy and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late George Velentzas. His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill - Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody followed by Services in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 706 Haddonfield Rd. Cherry Hill, NJ 08002 in his memory.
