Obituary of Clarinda S. (Silva) Cunha

Clarinda S. Cunha, 90, of 63 Tracey St., beloved wife of the late Manuel Cunha Silva, died unexpectedly Monday evening following a brief illness. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Rosa Augusta Silva. She lived there for most of her life, then emigrated to the United States in October of 1971. She settled in Peabody where she lived for the last 32 years. Mrs. Cunha worked for the Phil Clayman & Sons, Inc. Shoe Company for several years before retiring. She was an active communicant at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody, was a member of Our Lady of Help Hall and the Azorean Holy Ghost Society. She loved being at home with her friends and family. She is survived by: three sons, Antoninho C. Silva of Portugal, Joao Silva and Manuel Silva Cunha, both of Peabody, six grandchildren, Maria de Lourdes Silva of Graciosa, Portugal, Ivone Espinola of Dracut, Sandy Cunha, Lisa Cunha, Debbie Cunha, and Rosemary Cunha, all of Peabody; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Espinola, Mark Espinola, and David Espinola, all of Dracut, Selena Reis and Kayla Reis, both of Peabody, and Felipa Silva and Andre Silva, both of Portugal, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Serafim C. Silva and a brother, Bartolomeu C. Silva. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
