Obituary of Eleanor L. (Walters) Burnett

Eleanor L. (Walters) Burnett PEABODY—Eleanor L. (Walters) Burnett, 91, beloved wife of the late Howard D. Burnette, died peacefully at her daughter’s home Sunday morning with her loving family by her side. Born in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lula Mae (Proctor) Walters. She lived in Peabody for most of her life, and attended Peabody High School. Mrs. Burnette enjoyed nurturing her family. She also worked as a Sales Clerk with Schmidts Fabric in Salem for many years. Eleanor was a member and Chaplain of the Peabody Golden Agers, a member of the Peabody Council on Aging, and a past member of Pythian Sisters. She loved travelling and among her favorite places was Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed painting, knitting, square dancing, and as Spring approaches she will be remembered for her gardening. She will be dearly missed by her grateful family, especially for her family values and devotion to her family, grandchildren & great-granddaughter. She is survived by: a son, Howard D. Burnett & his wife Barbara of Peabody; a daughter, Carol Ann McGee & her husband Bill of Peabody; four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Barry McGee, and Laura Doty & her husband Ken, and Brian Burnett & his wife Carla; a great-granddaughter, Alexa Burnett, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by her brothers William, Earl, Alfred, Robert, Elmer, and Malvin Walters, and sisters Rita Mae (Bona), Lorraine, and Carolyn Ida (Chesley) Walters. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Service on Thursday March 24, 2011 at 10 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
