Obituary of Richard J. Nally, Jr.

Richard J. Nally, Jr., 75, of Peabody, died early Sunday morning at the Harborside Twin Oaks Nursing Home, Danvers, following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Lois Joan (Gustafson) Nally. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Anne Frances (McGivern) Nally. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody, a graduate of St. Mary’ s High School, Lynn, class of 1947, and he continued on earning a degree from Wentworth Institute. He was a veteran of the Korean War who served with the United States Army and was a Bronze Star recipient. After the War, he worked for over 25 years for Raytheon in Bedford as a Contract Administrator, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post 1011 in Peabody, and also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was an avid reader. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard J. III and Julie L. Nally of Georgetown; a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Richard Hawkins of Peabody, a brother and sister-in-law, James and Elaine Nally of Salem, a sister, Anne Marie Johnson of Norwalk, Ct, a grandson, Colin Richard Nally of Georgetown and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma 01923.
