Obituary of Themistocles "Misty" Baletsa
Themistocles “Misty” Baletsa, 83, husband of Mercy Baletsa of Peabody, died at his home on Friday, March 25, 2011 with his family at his side.
Misty was born in Lynn on February 29, 1928 the son of Peter and Stella (Connelis) Baletsa. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical, Class of 1946. On October 5, 1946, he enlisted into the U.S. Army. On September 29, 1950 Misty was called to active duty and served overseas with the Headquarters Battery, 74th FA BN being honorably discharged on October 9, 1951. Upon his return, he pursued his education at the Don Bosco Trade School. In 1955, he moved to Peabody with his family.
Misty who was a printer started his own business in the early 1960’s which he named Everett Typesetting and operated in Everett until his retirement in 2002. He will also be well remembered as a daily attendee at Bally’s and L.A. Fitness Centers in Saugus. Misty was a loving father who devoted his life to his family, and later was so proud of his 2 granddaughters and their accomplishments. Most recently, his 3 great grandchildren were the joy of his life.
In addition to his wife Mercy with whom he shared 62 years of marriage, Misty is survived by 2 daughters, Stephanie Manolakis of Venice, FL, and Jennifer Ege and her husband Rick of Nokomis, FL; a brother and his wife, Charles and Mary Baletsa of Salem; 2 granddaughters, Alycia Wolfe and her husband Chris of Punta Gorda, FL, and Alexis Ege of Seattle, WA; 3 great grandchildren, Nathan Lendermon, Nicholas Lendermon and Caitlyn Wolfe; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, William “Billy” Baletsa and Sartorios “Sit” Baletsa.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a service at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Misty’s name to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
