Obituary of Anna George

Anna George, 89, of Peabody, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody. Miss George was born in Peabody on October 25, 1921, the daughter of Stavros and Margaret (Lekakis) George. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the city. Miss George began her working career as a leather worker at A.C. Lawrence Leather Company in Peabody. She then worked for 20 years as an office clerk at the Medical Records Office on Walnut Street in Peabody until her retirement in1989. Anna was a member of the Philoptohos Athena, the Peabody Council on Aging and the Golden Agers. She traveled extensively abroad and enjoyed knitting and playing beano. Anna is survived by a sister, Marcia Giunta of Peabody; 2 sisters-in-law, Agnes Georgion of Peabody and Nancy Lecakis of ME; her nieces and nephews, Steven and Neva Georgion, her godchild, Katherine Emery, Stephen and Marie Giunta, Margaret Georgion, Lois Georgion, Glen George, Thomas, James and Tracey Lecakis and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, George Georgion, William George, and James Lecakis; 2 sisters, Georgia and Chrysanthe George. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in Anna’s memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St, Peabody, MA 01960. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
