Obituary of Frances M. (Santos) Bettencourt

Frances M. (Santos) Bettencourt, 85 years, wife of the late Joseph S. Bettencourt formerly of Driscoll St., Peabody died Thursday at the Birchwood Nursing Home in Derry, NH. Mrs. Bettencourt was born Oct. 26, 1916 in Peabody daughter of the late Manuel and Rose (Silva) Santos. She was raised and educated in Peabody and resided in Peabody for most of her life until moving to Derry, NH in 1994. During her working years she was employed at the former CBS Hytron in Salem then was employed as a stitcher at the Duchess Shoe in Salem and Moore Bros. in Beverly until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of the Portuguese American Civic League and the Holy Ghost Society both in Peabody. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Shirley A. and Robert Lemanski of Nokomis, IL and Grace M. and Harry Bullerwell of Kingston, NH; nine grandchildren, Donna Bean and Sean Bullerwell both of Kingston, NH, Diana Crepian, Susan Witt, Robert Lemanski, Jr., James Lemanski, Linda Lemanski, Angela McCormack and Jennifer Twitty all of IL; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Grace Rodrigues and Ann Burke. Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St. Peabody (978-531-0472) of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by her funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody.
