Obituary of Norton R. Hazel

Norton R. Hazel, 61, husband of Janet (Lindgren) Hazel of Peabody, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with his family at his side.Norton was born in Lynn on January 24, 1950 the son of Ralph and Loretta (Larocque) Hazel. He was raised and educated in Peabody. Norton was employed for 10 years as a machinist at General Electric in Lynn. In 1977, he was injured and placed on disability. He enjoyed camping with his family at Baxter Lake in NH, was a member the Elks Peabody Lodge #1409. Norton devoted his life to his children and later he was the proud grandfather of his 4 grandsons and their accomplishments. He enjoyed many years with his loyal companion Buffy. In addition to his wife with whom he shared 43 years of marriage, Norton is survived by a son, Norton Hazel II and his wife Kelly of Peabody; a daughter, Michelle Hazel of Exeter, NH; 4 grandsons, Randy, Chuckie, Zachary and Brad; a sister and her husband, Deborah Gardner and Harry of Peabody; a brother-in-law, Robert Lindgren of Peabody; many aunts, uncles, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and cousins. Norton was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Sarah Hazel. His funeral will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Norton’s name to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Cremation will follow services.
