Obituary of W. John Argetes

W. John Argetes, 79, of Peabody, died early Thursday at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born in Peabody on December 29, 1925, the son of the late George and Bessie (Margolis) Argetes and was a lifelong resident of Peabody. He had operated the Salad Bowl Restaurant in Ipswich for many years. Later he became a Bingo Inspector with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Lottery Commission for 15 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid bowler and bowled for many years in the Peabody Chamber of Commerce Bowling League. He also enjoyed golfing. He is survived by a sister, Helen Kyslowsky of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Geanakas,Venee Melonas, Tina Tremblay, Kay Vlasuk, James and Charles Argetes. A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. Peabody facility. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
