Obituary of Timothy Norcott
Timothy Norcott, of Peabody formerly of Everett, 96 years, husband of the late Sarah (Seward) Norcott died Wednesday at the Salem Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Norcott was born March 6, 1906 in Bryants Cove, Newfoundland, Canada son of the late Michael and Mary Anne (Hayes) Norcott. He emigrated to the United States in 1925 making his home in Everett prior to moving to Peabody 20 years ago.
During WWII, Mr. Norcott served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant with the Co. B, 435th Signal Battalion and saw battle in Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno and the North Apennines, Italy, specializing in lineman telephone and telegraph.
He was employed as a beam trawler fisherman out of the Boston fish piers for 52 years retiring in 1973. In his leisure time he enjoyed walking and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Donna and Michael Zellen and Lorraine and Richard Bettencourt, Sr. all of Peabody, Barbara and George Kendrick of Brockton; a son, Timothy Norcott of NV; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Caputo, Michele Nickerson, Amy Zellen and Richard Bettencourt, Jr. all of Peabody, Susan Zellen of NV, George and Philip Kendrick of Brockton, Timothy Bettencourt of VT, Amber Ronan of Malden and Sara Norcott of DE; a great grandson, Joseph Zellen of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Peabody.
