Alcinda Braga Santos
PEABODY—Alcinda Braga Santos, 83, wife of the late Alexandre Dias Pinto, died Friday April 15, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
Born in Belem, Brazil, she was the daughter of the late Alberto Ferreira dos Santos and Herundina Braga dos Santos. She grew up in Portugal and lived in a town near Coimbra for almost 50 years. She moved to the United States, settling in Peabody where she lived for 33 years.
She worked in several places, the last of which she was a machinery operator at Fishery Products for 10 years before retiring to care for her grandchildren.
Alcinda enjoyed living a quiet, simple life at home where she valued her family togetherness. She was proud that she became a US Citizen nine years ago in 2002.
She is survived by: four daughters, Maria Pinto DaSilva of Peabody, Rosa Phelps of North Conway, NH, Dina Ferreira and Estrela Travassos both of Peabody; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Roy Santos and Tony Santos. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a brother Americo Braga Santos.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday April 21, 2011 at 11:30 AM in the funeral home for her Funeral Service. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody
